Charles McGuire Dies After Prolonged Illness
Charles McGuire aged 76 longtime Burlington railroad maintainer and foreman died early today at his home on Worth Street from a heart attack brought on by weeks of influenza. Born in Ireland in 1856 he came to the United States in 1872 and worked from 1879 until retirement in 1922. He leaves his wife four sons a daughter and a brother. Funeral service will be held Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church.

Successful Quilt Show Draws Big Crowds and Prizes
The quilt show near the B M Eoenrichsen Co. store drew wide interest with 120 quilts entered across classes. Visitors cast about 600 votes determining winners led by Betty Barrows in pierced quilts for Flower Garden and Jennie Kumm for Indian Wedding Ring. In applique Sterling Ingwerson won Conventional Pattern with Ohio Rose going to Reese Hastain. Floral and Conventionel tied for embroidery with Chripwisner and Parkening earning top spots. Ida Cole and Etta Gerder led silk wool and velvet divisions.
