Herbert Beckman, born September 18 1906 in Cass county, died June 1 1930 at the state tuberculosis hospital in Kearney aged 23. His body may return to the Maynard area for local services and burial. He leaves two brothers Louis of Council Bluffs and John of Mynard along with a number of aunts and uncles.

Pleads for the Birds at St Pauls Church Appeal
Rev Wichmann appealed to the congregation and to the Sons of Herman for protection of birds after two robins and a catbird were killed on neighborhood lawns by boys with slingshots. He urged press and police action and said Plattsmouth cannot have its birds killed. Turtle doves were singled out as a target.

Horatio Nelson Dovey, born June 6 1863 in Plattsmouth, dies at his daughter’s home after months with throat cancer. A longtime resident, he led the family mercantile business, served as bank president, was active in republican politics, and survived by four children, two brothers, and a wide circle of friends.

Death of Aged Lady in Plattsmouth
Mrs. John Robeck an early Plattsmouth resident died Monday afternoon at 12 30 at her Sixth and Marble street home after a three week illness. Hemorrhage of the stomach caused the death. Born in Poland May 14 1854 she came to the United States as a young woman and married John Robeck. The couple settled in Plattsmouth in 1880 and lived here thereafter. She was highly esteemed and her passing leaves sincere regret among old time friends. Survived by the husband she was the last of her own family. parents and siblings preceded her in death.

Seventeen Year Locust Seen Near South Bend
The seventeen year locust, once feared as a Nebraska crop peril, has appeared locally with large wings bearing a W sign. A swarm was captured near South Bend on Sunday and Carroll Craig trapped one at his home yesterday. Locusts last appeared in 1913 according to locals.

William Henry Seybert longtime Cass County resident died at his home after a year long illness. Born August 30 1864 in Monterey Virginia he spent most of his life as a farmer near Cullom Nebraska. He married Ida H Sayles in 1896 at Cedar Creek and had three children two daughters and a son. He leaves two brothers one sister and several grandchildren and nephews.

Auto Accident Near Carroll Injures Gobelman Party
Frank R. Gobelman and his mother in law Mrs Hiatt of Sidney Iowa suffered severe bruises when another car careened from a side road and struck their vehicle near Carroll Sunday. They were en route from Sidney to Decorah to visit a daughter and were taken to Carroll for treatment before finishing to Decorah. Local reports say no serious after effects followed.

County Officials Debate Gravel Road Funding Split
The Saunders and county commissioners conferred over graveling the South Bend northwest road to the D S D line. South Bend precinct voters approved a levy for the project and Saunders county was expected to supply gravel to the county line. Disputes over cost sharing arose due to a disputed mile of road at No Man's Land, delaying final funding.

Hospital Treatment For Mrs Hadraba In Omaha
Mrs James Hadraba of this city is at Methodist hospital in Omaha for several days of treatment and minor operations. She has suffered cataracts for years causing near blindness. One cataract has been removed with good eye improvement and the second may be treated this week. A small skin cancer on her face will also be removed.
