D A R Tea Event at Fontenelle Chapter Meeting
Fontenelle chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution hosted a 6 o'clock tea at Mrs. F. R. Gobelman home. Officers were elected for the coming year. Delegates and guests from Glenwood and Omaha attended, including state regent E H Wescott and pages Vestetta Robertson. The chapter plans support for a local student award and will host the district conference in September at Fort Crook.

Young Couple Wed During Whitman Trip
Friday evening Mr and Mrs Jas Bierl accompanied Donald Harris to Whitman Nebraska to bring home Miss Theresia who just finished a year teaching in the sandhills. After the school picnic on Sunday they left for home and were married en route.

Eighth Grade Promotional Held Here Saturday
The Cass county eighth grade promotion took place at the Ritz theatre with about 400 students parents and teachers in attendance Miss Alpha Peterson led the program which featured musical numbers speeches and diplomas Thelma Miller and the D A R presented awards and six students earned 99 grades while three others held 98 in penmanship followed by a motion picture "Around the World in 80 Minutes."

Red Sox Open Season With Overtime Victory
Plattsmouth Red Sox opened the season at Athletic Field in a fast, thrilingly contested game. Del Sylvester starred with a homer and winning run in the eighth as the Sox rallied to beat the Athletics 6 to 5 after leading 4 to 2 and then 5 to 4. Newman held the late rally in the ninth, securing the win.

Mynard Club Hosts Vaudeville Night With Five Acts
Mynard Community Club held a May 26 meeting featuring five vaudeville acts and the East Side program committee. Acts included a family car farce with Myron Wiles family, Edna Covert impersonations, magician L S Devoe with Judge Duxbury, a second one act farce In 1950 by Raymond Cook, and a blackface routine by Wayne Bennett. The Mynard community orchestra of ten pieces conducted by James Smith provided interludes.
