Plattsmouth Flood Ravages Main Street Amid Debris and Loss
An immense flood struck Plattsmouth last night with winds and heavy rain. Main Street basements flooded while shops, rail yards, and gas mains suffered extensive damage estimated in the thousands. Rescue crews used syphons and pumps as bridges and sidewalks were washed away and emergency efforts continued through the night.

Silver Ore Discovery Near Carbonate Promises Mining Revival
A World-Herald report from Carbonate South Dakota highlights a discovery by Charles Brown and Jas James Pollock of rich silver ore two miles from Carbonate. The silver lead carbonate averages 20 to 40 ounces of silver and 18 to 25 percent lead with 3 to 6 dollars per ton in gold. ore runs 300 to 400 ounces of silver and many fine specimens are reported.

Poisoned Hand Injury at Sherwood's Store
L G Larson a contractor in Sherwood's store basement was injuring his right thumb while installing braces when a nail-like object pierced the skin. He felt swelling and pain, later a surgeon removed a piece of glass. Doctors fear blood poisoning from contaminated water and the lodged glass.
