Destruction of Main Street Building in Early Morning Fire
A fire early Sunday destroyed the building owned by Jess F. Warga between Fifth and Sixth streets on Main, housing John F. Sather undertaker goods. Firefighters fought through the blaze as the second floor collapsed and the roof fell, with heavy losses to Warga and Sather stock and limited insurance coverage. The blaze raged until nearly 2:60 o'clock, causing widespread smoke damage to neighboring shops and injuries to A. F. Braun.

The Cosmopolitan club held a carnival ball at Coates hall on Friday night to speed the passing of the old year 1920. Horns, carnival decor and confetti filled the hall as the Holly orchestra performed popular tunes and new song hits to a jovial crowd.

Death of Mrs P T Becker in Plattsmouth
Mrs P T Becker died at her home in Plattsmouth at 2 45 PM after a brief illness begun Sunday evening. She was married to P T Becker and leaves a husband and son John H Becker II, age seven, along with her parents Mr and Mrs Fred Gruenther Sr and several siblings. The family had lived on a farm west of the city before moving to Plattsmouth. The death brings grief to many relatives in Cass County communities.

Former fire chief Braun injured during Wares building blaze

Fire destroys a refrigerator car at the yard
At about 4 a.m. Burlington night yardmaster Lee McCarthy found a refrigerator car on the dip track near the water company pumping station in flames. The car burned completely leaving only the truck. investigators suspect arson as a hole burned through the floor. Loss to the railroad company is about $1,000. Fire limits prevented a general alarm.
