Charles Daniels Burned When Gas Ignited in Pipeline Building

Charles Daniels a Missouri Valley Pipeline patrolman escaped serious harm after natural gas released in a small south city building caught fire from an open lantern. The flame enveloped his clothing, burning his face hands and arms before he could extinguish the blaze. He drove to town for medical care with injuries dressed by Dr. R. P Westover. Two weeks earlier Daniels was robbed of $50 on a highway near Union.

Joseph Powell died at his home last night at 9 o clock after eight months of failing health. He had lived in the area for eight years and worked at the Burlington shops in the past. A Plattsmouth Public Schools health report finds most pupils in good physical condition. Of 872 examined, 585 had no serious defects. 277 had issues including eyes 56 cases, hearing 7, throat 119, teeth 146, plus 20 with nasal or other obstructions.

Autopsy Report in Wever Murder Case Released

County Attorney W G Kieck received autopsy results on George Wever of Omaha from Dr Meyers at University Hospital. Six milligrams of strychnine found in the stomach with traces in the liver and alcohol in stomach tissues and liver. Authorities say enough to cause death and Mrs Wever remains jailed awaiting preliminary hearing on December 30 to face first degree murder charges.

Damages Sought Over Pipeline Through Farm Lands

Farmers along the Missouri Valley Pipeline Co. line sue for damages totaling 26 000 dollars. Ray Wiles and wife seek 25 000, Albert W Leiker and wife 8 000, W F Nolte and wife 5 000, and George F Lenz and wife 5 000. Plaintiffs allege easement misunderstandings and claim eminent domain intimidation. Lincoln attorneys represent the group, with several similar cases in the state.

Plans Made for Santa Claus Parade Tuesday
