Former Lawrence officer jailed as bail revoked
Former Lawrence Township police officer Matthew Houser remains in Clearfield County Jail after bail was revoked by President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman for violating release conditions by consuming alcohol. Houser was charged with aggravated assault for a summer incident in which he allegedly entered a DuBois apartment and attacked a sleeping man. The victim testified at a preliminary hearing that he awoke to Houser beating him and heard him say he should have known better. He required 11 stitches to the forehead and four to the ear and still experiences pain. In July the judge denied a plea to lesser charges, saying the Commonwealth must prove serious bodily injury or an attempt.

Filtration project advances in Goshen Township plan
The Environmental Protection Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation works on about three miles of water lines serving 70 customers in Goshen Township. CMA handles the water storage tank and pressure reducing station, with the bureau funding the project estimated at $2 million and reimbursing CMA design costs. CMA seeks a grandfathering to continue brine water treatment at its wastewater plant, risking $45,000 to $75,000 yearly if denied. The CMA’s cryptosporidium tests were submitted to the EPA and approved. A used backhoe costing $25,500 was purchased from Robert Gearhart, while board members Rick Sloppy and Greg Dixon were absent.
