Postal Service Overburdened But Deficit Shrinks
Washington reports extraordinary rise in mail volume strained the postal service under tight funds yet shows a roughly 30 million dollar drop in the prior year's deficit due to economies. Postmaster General New urged self sustaining finances with fair postage, noting parcel post and public information functions deserve favorable consideration. He cited ongoing cost studies and a forthcoming report to guide future rates.

Early History of the Guy Family in Madison County
Prepared by Mrs Myrl Guy in 1923. The account traces the Guy family from seventeenth century London to Virginia about 1675 and onward to Indiana. Robert Guy, born 1793 in Virginia, moved with family to Gallipolis Ohio and later to Fall Creek Township Madison County Indiana. John Guy bought the family farm, with multiple generations living on the property and sustaining a hard pioneer life, church attendance, and Old World values. The memoir preserves the 1834 appraisal of Robert Guy’s estate and notes only a dozen direct descendants remain in Madison County today.
