Berry Crop Damaged by Hood River Ditch Sabotage
A large Hood River irrigation ditch supplying two thirds of Berry fields was sabotaged with giant powder on Sunday night. About 160 feet of flume on a hillside was wrecked, shutting water to roughly 400 acres of berries and threatening at least 10,000 crates valued around 30,090 dollars. Repair work will take three to four days, with potential heavy losses if delayed. Suspected ex-workers were questioned after hearing of the blast, and an investigation by company officials is under way.
