Water plant handles two million gallons daily
Lewiston now consumes about two million gallons of water every twenty four hours. The electric pump at the station was out Tuesday and repaired Thursday. A break Saturday night shut the pump until nine yesterday morning. To keep service, some pipes from the high reservoir were cut out and the district fed from the lower reservoir. The old steam pump was reactivated briefly. The repaired pump now works well and feeds the high reservoir. Superintendent Smith expects no further trouble maintaining adequate supplies on both reservoirs. The lower reservoir is full and the high reservoir is refilling from the big pump.
