Troopers Dead at Gettysburg Camp After Electrical Storm
Gettysburg July 24 three troopers were killed and twenty six injured in a severe overnight electrical storm at the Pennsylvania National Guard camp. Killed were Privates Burt Barber Milten Garver of the Tenth regiment and Private Morrison of the Sixth. Captain O J Gunning, Lieutenant James A Sanders, Chief Musician Morrison and Dram Major Chiietiey were badly hurt. Ward Kennedy of the Tenth is seriously hurt. Surgeons blame leggings with steel leg wings as a contributing factor. The camp flooded and telegraph wires prostrated. Panic spread among visitors and troopers as field hospital crowds grew.

Lightning Strikes La Grande Home Causing Paralysis Shock
A lightning bolt struck the Tom Walsh house, home of Train Dispatcher J F Corbett, at around eight yesterday morning. Miss Ryan, a family member, blacked out for two hours. Mrs Corbett, sewing at a machine, was momentarily paralyzed in the shock. Several boards tore loose, the telephone was burned, and a hole opened in the wall near the wires. Other town buildings trembled from the electric discharge and a tree in Old Town was struck. The storm produced La Grande's strongest electric shock in memory.
