The Mayflower with Roosevelt aboard ran down and sank the schooner Menawa owned by C. E Pembleton of Isleton Me in heavy fog at 1 15 this morning. The Mayflower lost the bowsprit but no other damage. The crew rescued the captain and five crew members of the Menawa. The president slept through the incident and learned of it on rising. Passengers included Mrs Roosevelt and family, Archibald Quentin Erlen Roosevelt, C H Netherlands and John L Mec Grew.
