Western railroads raise butter and egg rates to Chicago
Freight rates on butter eggs cheese and poultry were advanced to normal basis today by Western railroads. The increase ranges from 20 to 35 cents per 100 pounds from St Paul and Missouri river points to Chicago. About 1,000,000 pounds daily pass Chicago with 75 percent through traffic. The average rise is about $4 per ton boosting railroad revenue from this traffic by $2,000 daily or roughly 0.75 million dollars yearly.
