July 10. Freight handlers again refused to accept railroad terms and voted to continue the strike. About a hundred men declared they would not return to work, while hundreds of teamsters and drivers halted unloading to back the crippled freight movement, signaling a deepening stalemate among big business interests.
The seven masted steamship Thomas W Lawson was launched at the River shipyard south of Boston harbor.
