Local residents visited families in Prairie City Fifield and Des Moines while relatives from Norwalk and Grand Rapids joined in church services and gatherings. Attendants reported illnesses, travel to Moberly Missouri for corn observations, and multiple family reunions and weekend trips across Iowa and Michigan.
Mrs P Miedema and her daughter Betty spent Tuesday afternoon in Knoxville. Rev A G Lagerquist of Des Moines was a business visitor in Pella Tuesday.
Mrs Ruth Leydens aged 73 died Monday evening at 7 15 after a May 17 operation. Born in the Netherlands July 20 1861 she came to America in 1900 living in Harvey Lacey Otley and Pella where she resided eight years. Survived by 11 children 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren two sisters and one brother. Funeral at home at 12 30 and First Christian Reformed church at 1 with Dr Danhof officiating and burial at Graceland.
The Inquiring Reporter surveys five people on whether a gross income tax could replace the retail sales tax. Henry Terpstra says he cannot form a firm view and would defer to others. Frank Tromp notes low public awareness and believes sales tax yields more revenue, as many have little or no income.

Peoria figures D H Kromminga and son Carol from Grand Rapids visited the Wm Nibbelink residence and friends. Several families and individuals, including Mrs Otto Pethoven and daughters, Mrs Tena Stursma, and Mrs Cecil Vander Molen, hosted or visited others around Harris Glen, Oskaloosa, and nearby towns. A publicized mishap involved Cecil De Vries and Joe Dahm retrieving Reverend Peter Dahm and family from Oglide Minnesota for a vacation visit.
Mr and Mrs Bert Roose visited Sunday evening at the Cornelius Boerefijn home. The Revs Peter and William De Jong with their families arrived from Patterson New Jersey to visit relatives and friends in Paterson and Fella. Gerlene Ozinga of Pella is visiting Mrs C Boerefijn. The Ozinga reunion was held last Thursday at the Wm Ozinga premises with Wm Ozinga and children plus Mr and Mrs Louis Ozinga and daughters and Mr and Mrs Cornelius Boerefijn all in attendance.
