Gerald Duwayne Edwards of Pecos has been accepted for enlistment in the United States Army under the delayed entry program. He will report for active duty May 26 and will train as a heavy truck driver at Fort Dix New Jersey after advanced schooling. Edwards, son of Leo and Joann Edwards, attends Pecos High School and has a wife and one daughter Nancy Jean. He may delay active duty up to 270 days. The center operates on the Southwest Texas State University campus and the program is funded by the Governor's Office Criminal Justice Division with no charge to counties.
