West Texas gins form coop to buy SWIG Pecos mill
A cooperative of 10 West Texas area gins has bought Southwestern Irrigated Growers Association properties in Pecos including the oil mill cotton warehouse and two roller gins. The Pecos mill, built in 1951, will pass to the cooperative on Sept 2 with W R Bickley continuing as manager and a staff of 75. The deal may boost seed crushing volume and extend operating time, aiding local cotton production. The move preserves the mill as a local service for farming and hull users.
