The Reeves and Loving ASCS office reminds farmers to certify 1972 program crop acres including upland cotton extra long staple cotton grain sorghum and set aside by August 1. Early certification speeds payments which begin Saturday after about two weeks. Set-aside acres must match productivity of planted land and weeds must be controlled. failure to answer USDA questionnaires may cause data errors for harvested acreage and production in the two counties. The office notes 66 000 questionnaires were sent and will close July 4.

Fort Stockton Man Dies In I-10 Crash
James O. Fortenberry aged 56 of Fort Stockton died when his car struck signposts beside Interstate 10 near Fort Stockton in West Texas. He worked at the Firestone Tire Co testing facility nearby. An autopsy was ordered to determine if death was from natural causes, the crash, or the wreck.
