Pecos Rodeo Week Opens With Rotary Revue and Events
Rodeo week in Pecos kicks off July 1 to 4 with the Rotary Revue and the historic site of the world’s first rodeo ride in 1883. Activities include bull riding, steer wrestling, and wild horse races, with beauty pageants, beard contests, Western wear enforcements, and gate fees guiding attendance as ticket sales trail toward a $3,200 purse for cowboys in a 177-entry field.

Pecos editor nets prize after 21 hour fishing feat
A Pecos editor boasts winning a prize for catching the most fish at a Texas Press Association gathering. He describes a 21 hour deep sea trip from Port Aransas with his son Steve aboard the Wharf Cat, noting others caught longer and heavier fish yet he claims the honor. The piece closes with a note on local pride and a town couple deciding to stay after 42 years, as weather maps show partly cloudy south and fair north through Wednesday.
