Old Time Gospel Music Festival Draws Payson Crowd
Cold winds and intermittent rain marked the first old time Gospel Music Festival at the Rodeo grounds. Sponsored by the Payson Chamber of Commerce, the two day event drew about 200 on day one and over 400 on day two. Gate receipts reached 365 dollars. Performers from other festivals joined the gospel program to boost future Payson festivals. The Saturday night gathering at St Pauls Episcopal Church formed the Old time Gospel Music organization, with Ralph White elected head, Fred Falduti as vice president, and Paula Cross as secretary treasurer.
