Payson School Board heard a 13.5 percent overall budget rise for next year totaling 1,337,244.55 dollars, with elementary up 20.8 percent and high school up 6.2 percent. The proposal covers salaries, special education, federal programs, and library acquisitions, boosting costs per student.
The Town Council named Beeline Highway at Highway 260 as the center of a planned town address system to begin July 1 and discussed May 27 how to draw dividing lines for north south and east west. They also approved measures on rejecting common law streets not on maps and planned waivers for street acceptance and sewer assessments in Country Club Vista.
Local postal authorities say the new delivery system has been well received with 95 cards returned in the past week. Mail delivery begins July 1 in Payson. request cards are available at the Payson Post Office and must be completed there for route planning.
Grace Castersen 81, active senior and Sunshine Girl, is Named Senior Citizen of the Year by the Payson Senior Citizens Club. She has long roots in Payson, chairs and supports church groups, and will be honored May 19 as part of Senior Citizens Month.
New deadlines established to streamline operations. Effective Tuesday May 20 the advertising deadline is 10 a.m. for the Thursday issue. News stories must be submitted by 3 p.m. Tuesday for the Thursday edition. Submit early to ensure proper handling and placement.
