93rd annual rodeo preserves Payson tradition this weekend
The 93rd annual Rodeo in Payson continues the August Dovi tradition with a two day show at Rumsey Park. Nearly 10 000 fans expected for Saturday parade starting at 10 a m with 60 entrants. Parade routes include Highways 87 and 260 and Main Street. Parade marshal is Dolan Ellis Arizona’s Official State Balladeer since 1966. Ellis, a singer guitarist, has performed on NBC Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe and produced television specials. Parade entries feature the First Cavalry Scottsdale mounted group and the Wild Women of the West from Phoenix along with Shriners clowns Desert Chariots and oriental dancers. Judges stand near Fetter's Realty on the Beeline with Len Burkland Bobby Butler Tony Ortega and Kathy Shephard among judges.
