Arizona church votes to secede from Episcopal Church
The 178 members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Mission Church vote 96 percent to sever ties with the national church and the Arizona Diocese, becoming an independent Anglican church. Rev. Robert Donovan faces deposition after a six month window. a new vicar will assume duties.

Payson Council deadlocks on appointment to vacancy
A 3 3 split among Payson Town Council members ended in deadlock over a replacement for Vice Mayor Dave Marko. Nominees John Bennett and W R Mac McCreary each secured three votes, sending the choice to another meeting. The council plans to seek additional candidates and revote at the Aug 25 regular session. McCreary chairs the Planning and Zoning Commission and aims to facilitate controlled growth.
