Five University students were sent to The Pas for the summer under the Federal Government Opportunities for Youth program to assist in recreational activities and community programs. The placements aim to provide practical experience while supporting local youth services and recreational initiatives.
A university run drop-in centre in The Pas, led by Garry Kress and Kathy Wilson, offers teens aged 12 to 16 a place to socialize with chess, crib, cards, and records. It operates 11 am to 11 pm with chaperones, features a juke box and psychedelic decor, and aims to continue year round with parental and council support despite vandalism concerns and drug issues in town.
A brief item invites readers to visit the Centre for a drop-in session to observe the activities of local youth. The notice emphasizes firsthand participation and community engagement.
