Bear Lake fish study completes after three years
A three year Bear Lake fish and fishing study by the Idaho Fish and Game department is finished and a report will be published mid June. The cooperative project with Utah shows trolling near the bottom and shore fishing dominate cutthroat trout catches. Lake trout are best during late summer to early fall with deep water trolling. Rainbow trout are mostly caught from shore with worms and limited lure success.

Bear Lake to Plant Rainbow Trout for Tourist Season
Simpson reports Bear Lake will receive about the same number of catchable size fish as 1958. Most trout will be rainbow and released near resorts and boat landings during the tourist season to maximize fishing. Some fingerlings of various species will also be planted. Cutthroat trout eggs from St Charles Creek will be hatched at Grace hatchery and returned to Bear Lake.
