Idaho Board approves new teacher certification rules
The State Board of Education approved new requirements for teachers under House Bill 234. By Sept 11 1955 elementary and high school certificates require at least four years of college training and five years of training for certain certificates. Principals and superintendents must hold an administrative certificate after Sept 1 1955. Specialized certificates for trades bible schools library service and school nurses were created. An Idaho orientation course will replace the old manual and Civics course. The changes exclude those already certified in Idaho or certified before the bill’s enactment.
