Laketown residents recalled Memorial Day as crowds gathered on cemetery hill for the veterans service and flag placement. Many locals hosted visitors from Layton, Logan, Salt Lake, and Idaho Falls. several families shared meals and extended family visits, while 4 H activities and hospital stays were also noted.
Bishop and Mrs. Russell Sorenson attended a Second Ward meeting in Paris on Sunday where their grandson was blessed. Darrall Sorenson named the baby Richard Darrall by his father. Numerous relatives and friends visited and attended gatherings across several homes including Memorial Day visits to the Sorensons and related events at church with confirmations and Sunday school.
A special bond vote is set for June 25 1957 in Class A School District No 33 Bear Lake County Idaho to authorize up to 986000 in bonds at max 4.5 percent for acquiring building sites constructing or repairing schools furnishing equipment and transportation needs. Polls open 2 PM to 8 PM at designated precincts with eligibility rules for electors residents and taxpayers.
