Fort Ontario could join the national register after a year of updating state and national listings. Officials highlight the site as the only Holocaust refugee location in the U S and the largest recreation area in Oswego, with plans to connect trails to parks and marinas and boost local tourism and economic activity. The effort covers 27 properties reflecting New York history, awaiting state preservation approval before national listing.
