Oswego resident Timothy J. Oleyourryk, 47, charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident after a December hit-and-run on Old State Road in Sterling. A 19-year-old pedestrian was struck around 10 p.m. December 10, sustaining a broken leg and back injuries requiring surgery. Oleyourryk arraigned in Sterling Court and due back February 8.
Earl J. Wilson, 78, of Oswego, pleaded guilty to four counts of first degree attempted sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 24 years in state prison with three years post release supervision on each count, to run concurrently, plus protective orders and over $5,000 in fees. The investigation covered alleged abuse in Scriba from 2013 to 2015, with a prior 11-year-old victim case cited. The judge described a lack of remorse, while the defense noted potential for counseling and rehabilitation.
A 26 year old Army National Guard veteran from Anchorage opened fire in the Fort Lauderdale airport baggage claim area. Five people were killed and eight wounded before the gunman surrendered. The motive is under investigation. Authorities say the shooter had a handgun and fired through luggage while moving among carousels.
