Feds back plan to speed up Northeast rail service

Federal rail regulators back a 30 year plan to rebuild the Northeast Corridor. Upgrades target bridges tunnels and track realignments to reduce delays and boost capacity with speeds up to 220 mph on parts of the Washington to Boston route. Oswego Town Woman Charged With Manslaughter In Bicycle Crash

Faith Dechick, 32, of Auburn, faces second degree manslaughter charges after a Chevrolet Tahoe struck William E. Todd Sr., 56, of Oswego Town, while he rode a motorized bicycle on state Route 104 around 10:30 p.m. December 9. Todd died from the crash, and Dechick had priorly been charged with reckless driving.

PSC clears path for upstate nuke subsidies

The New York Public Service Commission denied more than a dozen petitions for rehearing of the Clean Energy Standard, clearing the way for nuclear subsidies to keep four upstate reactors, including three in Scriba, operating under Gov. Cuomo's plan to cut carbon and reach half of state energy from renewables by 2030. Several groups challenged parts of the standard, pushing for technical changes, but the commission's action moves the policy toward implementation.
