Chad Phelps held off Larry Wight in a 35 lap Fulton Speedway DIRTcar Modified feature by 0.159 seconds after a late-race duel from lap 29 onward. Bowman's early lead and subsequent swaps set the scene for a dramatic front straight drag race.
Chad Phelps and Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds lead a 35 lap feature with Larry Wight and Mike Bowman among top finishers. SUNY Canton Sportsman saw Ron Davis III win over a field including Jeremy Pitcher and Dylan Zacharias. Billy Whittaker Cars & Tr ax Rush Late Models top 20 lap race with AJ Kingsley and Jason Parkhurst in podium spots. E W Energy Novice Sportsman and JB Logging Four Cylinders filled by listed competitors with DNS Cody Thomas in the latter. One-on-one spectator race noted as well.
Jim Furyk, 46, sets a PGA Tour record with a 58 in the final round at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell Connecticut. He opened with birdies and an eagle, carded 27 on the first nine, and sealed the record with a 2-foot par on 18.
Dave Shullick Jr won the Ollie Silva Memorial at Lee USA Speedway as part of his ISMA weekend, overtaking Mike Lichty for the lead on lap 56 to claim the victory. Mike Ordway Jr finished third as Lichty and Shullick battled for the season crown, with McVetta suffering a wheel break and fading after pitting for repairs. The effort kept Shullick in the ISMA title race while Lichty and Ordway traded positions through the eventful 75-lap feature.
Larry Wight of Phoenix passed Chuck Bower on a green white finish to win the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified feature at Brewerton Speedway on VP Small Engine Fuels Night. It was Wight's second Brewerton win this season as he benefited from a late restart after leading late.
In the Brewerton Speedway feature, Larry Wight passed Chuck Bower for the lead after a back straight duel, with Bower regaining, then losing, the top spot as Wight climbed to second and overtook Bower on a late restart. Rob Bellinger, Tim Sears Jr., and Pat Ward chased in the top five. The SUNY Canton Sportsman race saw Jack Meeks bolt to an early lead before Zach Sobotka took command, trading position with Meeks until Sobotka led again late. Meeks retook the lead on lap 20 with Sobotka dropping off. In the JB Logging Four-Cylinders, Chris Bonoffski dominated after mechanical issues in his heat. Matt Smith topped the N6A 600 Micro Sprints in a rain-shortened affair.
