Memphis Man Jumps to Death from Harahan Bridge

J A Roberts, 35, longtime Memphis fire department salvage corps member and former streetcar motorman, leaped from the Harahan bridge into the Mississippi River after handing his wife and his father farewell letters. He had been out of work for about a month and left a note asking forgiveness for his family, urging his wife to keep their children away from whisky. The body was not recovered by late night. Memphis police and relatives assisted the distressed family of six to eight children.
