Sprint MCI merger aims to protect Kansas jobs

Sprint COO Ronald LeMay said the proposed $115 billion Sprint MCI merger should create a healthy company and prevent job losses in Kansas. He noted the Overland Park headquarters is unfinished and acknowledged some redundancies, with about 14,000 to 15,000 of Sprint’s 20,000 Kansas employees at the site. WorldCom would top 140,000 employees worldwide if the deal goes through.
