Osceola Bears Home Loss to Fullerton 22-6

Fullerton Bulldogs defeated Osceola 22 to 6 at home. A safety by Lyndon Wieseman and a late 86 yard pass from Tim Mary to Scott Fitzgerald fueled the visitors while Osceola’s lone touchdown came on a Wieseman rush. Next, Osceola hosts Palmer 0-3-1 Friday.

USDA Increases Feed Grain Loan Rates Nationwide

The USDA raises loan rates for barley corn oats rye and sorghum effective immediately. New rates: barley 1.63 per bushel corn 2.00 oats 1.03 rye 1.70 sorghum 1.90 (3.39 per cwt) with prior 1976 figures listed. Acting Secretary John C White cites a severe cost price squeeze for farmers and ASCS administers the program. Producers may obtain additional disbursement by contacting their county ASCS office.

Osceola senior Kim Boden to compete in Harvest of Harmony

Osceola High School senior Kim Boden daughter of Meredith and Vernon Boden was chosen to represent Osceola in the 1977 Harvest of Harmony queen contest in Grand Island. She will register Friday with other contestants as crowds gather for crowning Friday night and the Grand Island parade Saturday.

Marsh Resigns NRD Manager Post

Floyd Marsh manager of the Upper Big Blue NRD submitted his resignation to the board Thursday night and the board accepted it. He offered to work until next spring to aid his successor and has served as NRD manager since its establishment.
