Funeral services were held in Omaha for artist Augustus Dunbier aged 89 a lifelong painter and teacher born on a farm east of Osceola His brother Tony deceased was father of Mrs Ervin Rafert of Gresham Dunbier painted landscapes portraits and figures a collection was shown at the College of St Mary in Omaha The Polk County Historical Society would like one of his paintings in its museum Nearby notes describe ongoing school fund raising drives for Campbell soup labels and Post cereal box tops to buy audio visual gear and a balance beam for PE classes At Osceola High School community education classes begin October 3 with many courses and a registration meeting Monday night The Alton Johnson family attended a Fremont college game noting Midland College alumni in the crowd and upcoming license fee changes include a $1 renewal and a new photo required for licenses

Cheese Delicacies Tea Noted At Osceola Methodist Church

The 1977 Polk County Home Extension Clubs Tea was held September 19 in the Osceola Methodist Church fellowship hall with about 110 women attending. Extension president Mrs. William Peters welcomed guests as Reverend Paul Reimers and family performed a musical program. preparation included cheese dish booklets and beverages served by Mrs. Harry Opplinger and Mrs. Peters.

OHS Band Announces Instrument Display and Booster Club Meeting

The OHS band plans a display of band instruments in the high school music room on Thursday September 22 at 1 30 p.m. Parents of sixth graders are urged to attend. Community members with used instruments for sale may contact band director Steve Smolik to display them. Jackets will be sold again this year. A booster club meeting for all band parents will be held Tuesday September 27 at 7 30 p.m. in the high school music room.

Osceola Classes Plan Fall Adult Ed Offerings

Osceola Public Schools and Central Technical Community College Area will offer adult education courses starting October 3. A registration meeting is set for September 26 at Osceola High School at 7:30 p.m. to gauge interest and finalize offerings such as Spanish I II speedreading CPR and first aid candy making pastries children’s wear basic clothing construction and accounting fundamentals I.

Masons Mark 100th Anniversary at Osceola Lodge Banquet

About 120 Masons and wives attended Osceola Lodge 65 A F and A M centennial banquet on September 15 in Legion clubrooms. Grand Lodge officers including Alfred Saum and Byron Jenkins spoke. a centennial certificate was presented to Worshipful Master Watts. Seven 50 year members were honored and a Lodge 65 history was read with a centennial booklet distributed.
