Emil August Boostrom died at his Stromsburg home Saturday morning after a long illness. He was a famed educator, botanist, and former Osceola and Stromsburg school superintendent. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. tomorrow at his home, with Rev. A Weatherly of Lincoln conducting. interment will be in Stromsburg cemetery. He was born August 187L in Galva Illinois and educated at Stromsburg High School, Bryant Normal, State University, and the University of Nebraska. He leaves a widow Beble Boostrom and son Neal.
The Ben Hur initiation group welcomed seven new members Saturday night and plans a large banquet and entertainment on Sept 30 under deputy Mrs Johnson. J J Cassidy district president for Colorado Nebraska was in town Saturday and will return for the 30th event.
Vaudéville and Pyctures performed at the auditorium on a Wednesday night show. The program featured a mix of acts and photography imagery, drawing local audiences to the venue for an evening of entertainment.
H L Crouse of the Polk County Telephone Company will leave Osceola in October to become secretary of the Surprise Telephone Company. He and his wife have made many friends here and wish them success in the new field of labor amid recent management changes at Surprise.
