Nebraska Youth Conference Brings 300 Delegates Together

Beth Jones Paula Smith and Steve Davis were among 300 community youth leaders at the 16th annual Nebraska Conference of Youth. The three day event titled Discovering the Future Today met on the University of Nebraska east campus with sessions at the Nebraska Center for Continuing Education to discuss education government law technology and social attitudes.

Hunting Seasons Set By Game Commission

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved fall hunting and trapping seasons on August 27. Light geese head to a October 2 to December 26 season with a five bird limit. dark geese run October 9 to December 19 with east and west zone limits varying. Duck season opens October 14 for 60 to 83 days, pheasant runs October 30 to December 12 with special Panhandle rules, quail opens November 6 to January 16 with six daily, turkey archery October 1 to 29, and upland hours from sunrise minus 15 minutes to sunset. Budget for 1977-78 proposed at $17.91 million, up 20.9 percent mainly LB 861 Habitat funds. Director Mahoney stresses a lean, no-frills approach.

Osceola Record Welcomes New Staff Member Pat McCoy

Patricia McCoy joined the Osceola Record staff on Monday taking on duties from Doris Grossnicklaus who has served the paper for 17 years. They will share receptionist reporter salesman and cashier roles on a part time basis while office hours stay the same.

Legion Post Represented At National Convention

American Legion Commander Walt Rempe and Greg and Susan Anderson returned from the national convention in Seattle Washington. Delegates from Nebraska included Lemoyne Anderson and Walt Rempe with William Wolfe Post 91. Highlights featured Jimmy Carter, Robert Dole, Admiral Halliway, and Pat O Brien. Resolutions urged a better veteran hospital plan a permanent GI bill and continued opposition to amnesty. The group expressed dissatisfaction with North Korea's apology for two officers killed in the DMZ.
