Osceola Clinches League Title With Sweep Over Seward

Osceola captured the bicentennial league championship by sweeping a two game series from Seward 8 to 5 on Wednesday night. Bill Parminter went 6 for 6 to spark 15 Osceola hits off starter Dittman and reliever Weber. A Parminter homer highlighted the win as Osceola improved to 18 and 6 with two games left in the Gibbon Tournament.

Youngsters Plan MD Carnival

A neighborhood carnival to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Association activities will be held Friday at the Don Andelt home 540 Mickey starting 2 p.m. Ringmaster Darrell Andelt and helpers David Kevin Theis Debbie Becky Theis Debbie Michael Anderson will run games and a bean count contest with a prize radio. Proceeds support research and patient services for muscular dystrophy and related diseases.

Osceola Girls Third in Little 8 Tourney After Thrilling Play

Osceola's 15-HS girls softball team earned third place in Polk at the Little 8 League Tournament. They beat Gresham 20-11 in round one, then lost 5-4 to Polk before defeating Osceola 12-7 for third. Vicki Kucera drove in seven RBIs and posted a .727 season average, while Brenda Peterson hit her fourth homer. Coach Sandy Wright praised allnine players for the winning season.
