John Egelhoff was arrested on bootlegging charges after a police raid Tuesday night at his business northeast of town. Sheriff Van Hoosen and deputy C H Runyan seized a large moonshine still, eight 50 gallon mash barrels, and jars of hootch. Runyan struck Egelhoff during the arrest, causing a head wound.
A twenty dollar bill alleged to be used to purchase liquor at Engelhoff Hootchery was found in John’s possession. At yesterday’s hearing the defendant was bound over to the district court this afternoon for further proceedings.
Wilford Johnson known as Muckin cut a Ford belonging to Dewey Anderson in Stromsburg drove through Fizzletown Shelby and into a ditch near Morningside. He received a suspended sentence of twenty days with ten days on bread and water and parole with appearances at each district court term. The remark notes two young men are not inherently bad but have shown a reckless path.
The notice argues railroads in Polk county paid 192 percent equals 18 811 dollars and asks voters to choose whether railroads should continue paying or the public should cover it. It warns LaFollette’s program implies a five million dollar Nebraska tax loss.

C H Morrill of Stromsburg donates two lots in Morrill Nebraska to the village for a public library site. The land named for him can be subdivided into six building lots with proceeds to help fund the library, and the town is to erect the library on the site.
County Agent reports inquiries about corn husking pay. Farmers willing to pay 6 cents per bushel with elevator furnished, 7 cents if the husker supplies scoop. Some offer 8 cents where corn is hailed and yield is poor, but this rate is district specific.
Margaret Ann Allinder married Matthew Young of Denver on a Wednesday afternoon at 3 at her parents home. Rev. O W Nelson officiated with Edne Allinder and Carl Allinder as attendants. The ceremony featured yellow white décor and chrysanthemums. The couple will reside at 739 South Race Street Denver after November 15.
Lillian Hardin daughter of A R Hardin of Ulysses died early Monday at her aunt Grace Stowe’s home after weeks of heart illness. She was 10 years and 23 days old and is survived by her father three sisters and two brothers. Funeral and burial took place Wednesday in Ulysses Cemetery.

Lunn and Peterson treated in York, Lunn fined for illegal liquor possession and intoxication. Bohen and Larson fined. Peterson to face further court after injuries. Dr. Jarmin assisted at the scene.
William Wolfe Post No 91 Osceola outlines Armistice Day events with a 2 PM parade from the High School led by the Grand Army of the Republic and the Womens Relief Corps, plus World War Veterans and local groups. The parade ends at the Grand Army Hall for a program featuring a state Legion speaker and audience singing, followed by hall public viewing.
