Popular Judge and Son Turn Convicts in Prison Study

Nebraska district judge Harry D. Landis and his son Frank went undercover as inmates at Fort Madison Iowa to study criminal behavior and prison conditions for three weeks. They entered as De Witt s were sentenced for a fraudulent land deal and were treated like any other prisoners while reporting findings to governors and parole boards.

Weeden Pierson Wedding at Seward Parsonage

Miss Elizabeth Weeden daughter of Mrs Minnie Weeden and Harry Pierson of Stromsburg wed at 1 30 Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Parsonage in Seward Rev Prouty officiated. The bride a 1928 Osceola High School graduate has worked for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph eight years. The groom, Stromsburg High School alumnus, has farmed and driven for Standard Oil at Stromsburg. They will live in Stromsburg after a short wedding trip.

Stromsburg Celebrates Silver Wedding of Mr and Mrs W F Johnson

Mr and Mrs W Fred Johnson were honored at a Silver Wedding Anniversary dinner hosted at the home of Mr and Mrs A C Anderson. Twenty five guests included the Johnsons Bridge Club, and relatives. They married October 22 1911 at the Anderson home with Rev C Hemberg officiating. Mrs Johnson wore her wedding dress. They are lifelong Stromsburg residents with Johnson in business over 25 years and a son Owen in California with Boeing Air Lines. After dinner, guests returned to the Johnson home for bridge.

Exeter and Osceola Battle to 6-6 Tie on Gridiron

Exeter and Osceola played to a 6-6 tie after a 60 yard interception return for Exeter and a 70 yard punt return by Rutter. Gissler’s late touchdown catch was ruled out of bounds as time expired. Osceola entered 2-1 while Exeter stood 4-0.
