Polk Rural Public Power District Receives 367 500 Loan

A telegram from the Rural Electrification Administration announces a 367,500 loan to Polk County Rural Public Power District to construct 350 miles of transmission lines. Project aims to serve 900 farm customers in the table land area. completion expected by early summer 1937. Democratic ticket sweep noted with Roosevelt re elected and local officers listed.

Old Settler Andrew Hannell Dies At 76 In Osceola

Andrew Hannell longtime Stromsburg Osceola resident died Friday at York hospital after leg amputation failed to save his life. Born January 14 1860 in Hannes Parish Sweden he came to America 1881 lived Iowa Illinois Nebraska he married Sophia Martin April 3 1885 three children survived his wife Lillian Carlson William and Hattie Tyndall. Funeral held at home with Rev Paul Melin. Burial in Osceola cemetery.

Shelby News Highlights Religious, School, and Social Visits

Shelby residents attended the Lincoln District Missionary Convention at Trinity Methodist Church and a Ministerial Convention in Polk. Local groups hosted meetings for the Women's Foreign Missionary Society and the Dorcas Society while Shelby schools closed for teachers convention and structural updates were made to classrooms. Families gathered for dinners and visits with relatives in Anoka, Gresham, and Columbus as residents traveled to Omaha and Parsons for lengthy visits.

Choir Program at Lutheran Church Nov 10 Evening

The Lutheran Choir will give a community program at 8 PM on Tuesday November 10 at the church. A small admission charge and lunch will fund the pipe organ tuning. The program features organ piano duets solos readings and choir numbers by listed local performers.
