C Edwin Johnson responds to the Osceola Community Club president amid election season. He endorses good roads, supports state highway recognition, and, as a county commissioner candidate, vows to act for the county’s best interests and to harmonize town interests. The note reflects local civic activity and listings of residents.
Residents travel to nearby towns for visiting and shopping. A marriage license was issued to Hilding Dahlin and Anna Newman. The Conrad Thelen Estate was sold at public auction on the courthouse lawn. Long obituary for Helen Anna Hill Chase recounts family ties, church service, and funeral arrangements in Shelby Nebraska.

The High School Mixer on October 22 gathered all classes in the basement for games and tricks on the Freshman class. Refreshments followed the activities and the evening was enjoyed by all.
Mrs. Bowers was taken to York for X ray by her children. Grant Douglas, ex Osceola Record owner, spoke to Ar borville voters on republican gospel. Mrs. Horrocks returned to Omaha after visiting her parents. Earl Wagoner lost about thirty head of cattle to flu. Samuelson sisters visited from York College for weekend. C Edwin Johnson, candidate for county commissioner, met voters. Stark family took a route trip to Hastings and nearby towns. Arthur Stromsburg of Valentine visiting Polk locality. Donald Loy born to Mr. and Mrs. Tenney. Newtons returned from Redwood Falls visit. White Cross Society met. Miss Hagquist to receive Christmas box in Africa.
Voters in Polk County see a county wide questionnaire from the W C T U asking candidates if they support strict Prohibitory Law, oppose Sunday baseball, and pledge to uphold law and order. Several candidates answer Yes to all questions or to first and third only, with some declining to answer.
Under the American Legion, Osceola will mark Armistice Day on November 11 with a big parade and auditorium exercises, a motion picture, and a dance in the evening. The full program is to be announced next week and residents are urged to keep the date free.
Osceola High School defeated Geneva 7-0 on October 22 at home. Geneva threatened early but the strong Osceola line held. In the second half the Osceola backfield drive scored and Yeltman kicked the extra point. time ran out before another touchdown. Next game is at Fullerton on October 29.
Last Monday evening the Business Women's League met at the Matheson home with twenty members and two visitors. They voted to hold a bazaar to raise club funds, set for December 4, with location to be announced. A special meeting Friday will work on bazaar details at the County Agent's office. The group will meet Lydia Addisor on November 8 to push preparations, then adjourn after lunch.
Pendelion Bros rent the Auditorium to show The White Rider a Ku Klux picture Monday Nov 1st under their terms. I have no connection beyond facility operation, says Harry Musselman Manager Auditorium.
W. M. Stebbins of Gothenburg and C. Petrus Peterson of Lincoln speak on current issues at Scott's Hall Stromsburg at 8 PM on Friday October 29. Also scheduled is the "Womanless Wedding" at the Auditorium on November 15 and 16.
