The loss of Col Beebe of Osceola Nebraska was marked by a large funeral at the Osceola Cemetery with state and local officials among honorary pallbearers. Beebe, a prominent lawyer, county official and public leader, died in Osceola after a storied career and deep community service.

The Polk County 4 H boys showed calves at the State Fair and earned distinct sums for each animal. Homer Mouden earned 116.68, Raymond McCarty 121.60, Ford Mouden 111.21, Harold Johnson 117.22, Ralph Allison 112.32, Harold Johnson 108.83, Richard McCarty 99.22, totaling 787.08 plus 49.50 in prizes.
