Rainfall for the week was trace to .50 inch with moisture supplies adequate. Winter wheat excellent. irrigated corn and sorghum good. other crops fair. Corn 15 percent harvested, soybeans 75 percent, others 50 percent. Moisture content 17-18 pct corn, 11-17 sorghum, 9-11 soybeans. Feed supply average. harvest slowed by wet days. Feeder cattle demand noted. county banks sponsored a dinner with awards and performances by local residents.

Polk County Agent Gary Garey to resign year end

Gary B. Garey county agent will resign effective December 31 after ten years serving Polk County. He plans to enroll at Colorado State University in Fort Collins in January to pursue a Master of Science in extension education. Garey previously served as Sherman County assistant agent for one and a half years.
