Osceola residents are invited to a Sunday night party and costume contest at the American Legion club on Oct 31 at 7 30 p m sponsored by the Legion and the Chamber of Commerce Prizes will honor the scariest costumes The event aims to draw families for an evening of fun and community involvement.
Robert L. Tooker a Silver Creek 4 H leader and former club member was named one of four state alumnus winners for 1965. He led Kreek A Teers Club for 13 years and 7 years as a club member.
William H Burritt 33 of Excelsior Springs Missouri died Oct 13 at home. He was a Shelby native. Funeral services held in Excelsior Springs with burial in Shelby. Survived by wife Mary five children Dean Jody Robin Lori Lynn and Carrie Jean his father Earl Burritt Coalgate Oklahoma two brothers Daniel Greeley Colorado Richard Minden and a sister Mrs Richard Alt Duncan. Mr and Mrs Carl Allinder to observe silver wedding anniversary Oct 31 with open house 2 to 5 p.m. at their home. no gifts requested.

Corn 15 percent harvested, soybeans 75 percent, others 50 percent. Moisture content 17-18 pct corn, 11-17 sorghum, 9-11 soybeans. Feed supply average. harvest slowed by wet days. Feeder cattle demand noted. county banks sponsored a dinner with awards and performances by local residents.
Gary B. Garey county agent will resign effective December 31 after ten years serving Polk County. He plans to enroll at Colorado State University in Fort Collins in January to pursue a Master of Science in extension education. Garey previously served as Sherman County assistant agent for one and a half years.
Kent Heckman won the latest Armchair Quarterback contest with a correct 0 0 Osceola Polk tie. He and five others missed several games including Kansas 9 Oklahoma State 0 and Minnesota 14 Michigan 13. The entry deadline moved from tonight at 5 p m to Friday 5 p m after this week.
Youth groups including Future Homemakers of America Methodist Youth Fellowship Catholic Youth Organization and Luther League prepare to knock on doors for UNICEF on Saturday October 30. The local UNICEF headquarters will be at the Lutheran church with refreshments served.
Both teams produce a scoreless 0-0 contest as Osceola and Polk struggle on a chilly Friday night. Osceola’s Engert and Polk’s Sealey threaten but fail to reach the end zone. The Bulldogs host Palmer at 8 p.m. in the final home game before a Genoa trip on Nov. 5.
