Miss Crosby Returns From National Meet
Margaret B. Crosby came home last Sunday from the National Home Demonstration Agents Association meeting in Seattle October 9 to 12. More than 400 agents from 49 states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico attended. 12 Nebraskans were present. The program featured talks on the changing role of home agents, with speakers from USDA and Washington Extension Service. 56 agents were recognized for long service, and many exhibits and door prizes complemented the event. Crosby and four other Nebraskans stayed for sightseeing in Victoria and on a driving trip north of Seattle, despite weather and customs limits on purchases.

The Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Hospital trustees and county commissioners named Leslie C Nash as administrator of the hospital. Nash, 42, formerly led the Old Nebraska Cooperative Hospital and will start around December 15, handling new equipment installation and hospital setup. He is married with two daughters and has degrees from Kansas State College Fort Hays and attended KU medical school. he served in the U. S. Navy 1942 to 1946. The Ord Methodist Church member was praised by many locals and hospital boards for qualifications and experience.

Consumers Public Power District doubles Osceola’s power capacity by installing a 1000 KVA substation costing nearly 30000 dollars. The unit features automatic voltage regulation and a 5000 volt oil circuit breaker switch gear. First Cold Snap Of Season Hits This Territory
The first fall cold snap reached Polk county Sunday night after light rain and some morning snow. A trace of precipitation moistened the soil, with frost forming by Monday morning. Temperatures fell to 24 25 degrees. a hard frost left puddles iced over and trees shedding leaves signaling the end of the growing season. Wheat appears to be in good condition for winter, while irrigated corn stalks need the frost to stop growth and dry out.
