Attendees enjoyed performances and reports from each club, with premiums from the county area and state fair awards. Programs included songs, readings, a Shakespearian play, cooking club reports, and motion pictures. Bill Jones named champion of the College Farm and Home club series.

Fall of the Old Jarmin School Dedication Marks District 40 Heritage
Monday night dedication of the new District 40 school drew many patrons and former pupils. The article recalls district history from 1875 including the first school site, the first teachers, and early community use of the old building. An auction of the old building brought about 225 dollars.

The WCTU plans a Friday meeting at Mrs. Geo Moore’s home with reports from the State Convention. Grant Walgren sustained a deep gash to his left wrist Monday afternoon when a plow share fell from overhead. Dr. Shaw treated him in Osceola. Homer Hartson received a Buescherphone for the band and hopes to complete assembly by the next practice.

Pioneer Polk County settler William H. Baker dies at 75
William H. Baker, a Polk County pioneer who lived over fifty years in the area, died Monday evening at his home at about nine. He owned land south of the city and later moved to town purchasing a residence with his wife. He was an active member of Eden Baptist Church and funeral services were conducted today by Rev. A. W. Lyons. He is survived by his wife, two sons Chester and Maurice, and three daughters Mrs. W. A. Burke, Mrs. H. L. Fillman, and Mrs. Reese Newman of York.
