District honors at state convention in Kearney

The fourth district earned several honors at the state convention in Kearney including district president A F Nuquist of Osceola elected state vice president. Osceola Woman's Club drama unit won first in King Lear contest and York speaker N E Welch gave best talk on federation. District praised for Community Service and strong Representation on the Scholarship Loan Fund Honor Roll.

Postpone Husking Contest To Friday November 4

The Polk County Corn Husking Contest is delayed until Friday noon November 4 due to drizzling rain. Entries include Otto Daum and Hart Treadway from Osceola among others. The event at the BE A Hedlund farm features team hitch demonstrations, hog and chicken calling contests, prizes, and official timekeeping.

Osceola Devs Fall At David City In Park Grid Clash

A large crowd watched Osceola and David City clash in a football game at the park. David City scored early on a punt return to lead 7–0, then rolled to a 27–7 victory as Osceola fought hard and showed sportsmanlike conduct throughout the contest.

South Shelby Club Holds Meeting at Mrs. Miller Home

The South Shelby Club met at Mrs. Fred Miller’s home with 19 attendees and 16 signing up for the year’s activities. An outline and height measurement demo were presented, a short playlet was performed, and lunch was served. The next meeting will feature a school lunch prepared for children.

Home Talent Musical Comedy Sweetheart Town

Local audiences are invited to see the home talent musical comedy Sweetheart Town on November 14 and 15 under the auspices of the American Legion and Auxiliary. Tickets support post activities with performances by community volunteers from area clubs and schools.
