First Child Born in Polk County Laid to Rest in Lebanon
Edgar T. Roberts born Osceola November 27, 1868 and died October 6, 1943 at his Lebanon Kansas home. He was the first white child born in Polk County Nebraska. He moved to Kansas as a farmer eight miles south of Lebanon and spent his last year there before moving into Lebanon. He leaves wife, son Lloyd, and grandson Keith Roberts. Funeral in Lebanon with burial in Osceola officiated by Rev. G A Randol.

Obituary: W C Hayhurst Dies at 71 in Shelby
W C Hayhurst, 71, died at his home in Shelby Sunday morning after a heart ailment. He is survived by his wife, two daughters Alma Hayhurst of Grand Island and Mrs Bruce Stiverson of Uniontown Penn, one sister Maude Bennett of Lewelyn Neb, and two brothers Frank Hayhurst of David City and Harry Hayhurst of Wheatland Wyo. Funeral services conducted by Rev J L Garland and Rev G T Savery were held Wednesday at 2 30 from the United Brethren church with burial in Shelby cemetery. Obituary next week.
