County Extension Plans For Coming Year
The Polk County Extension Board met with Ray L Cruise County Agent and Kathryn Kil mer Home Agent to outline tentative plans for the office next year. Key activities include 44H Club work target 500 members and 400 women in the Women's Project. Lessons for leaders cover Fall and Winter Clothing Next Steps in Building our Health Program Morale in The Home and Popping Up War Time Meals. Livestock programs aim to expand dairy stock from Wisconsin and Minnesota and organize an artificial dairy breeding association with 105 farmers and 800 cows consigned. Additional work includes crop production pest control seed tests irrigation contour farming and potential Soil Conservation District. Other past activities like farm machinery repair clinics sewing machine clinics accounting book work poultry culling demonstrations food preservation courses and Clarke McNary Tree distribution will continue as needed. At the referee sale of the Paulsen farm of 160 acres, N. S. Aibolt bought the land at 105 dollars per acre. The property, one of the county’s best producers, lies southeast of Osceola. Phil Campbell acted as referee and W. W. Norton served as attorney.

Wyman Family Mourns Aunt and Weekend Travels Reported
The Wyman family learned Sunday of their aged aunt's death at Schuyler and the funeral was held Tuesday. Wendell McCormick and Billy Wyman travelled west Saturday to join the U S Maritime Service. Dewey Lockard bought a team near Grand Island last week and Lloyd Wamsley brought them home Friday. Vern McCormick joined Merle Wieseman Saturday for a cattle load at the sand hills. Mr and Mrs Herman Strohbehn and Mr and Mrs E M Jacobsen and Joanne of Havens visited the Lloyd Wamsley home to honor Mr Strohbehn on his birthday and the Wamsleys on their wedding anniversary. Mr and Mrs Henry Schipporeil were Sunday guests near Osceola.

Peters 67th Anniversary Of Waterford Couple
Mr and Mrs Charles F Peters of Waterford Nebraska celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on September 16 they are both 88. They were married September 16 1876 and homesteaded at Shelby before moving to Washington County where they have resided. Mrs Peters is an aunt of Mrs Sam Crouse.

Ammunition and lumber pricing rules for farmers
The AAA office outlines that farmers may obtain ammunition for predatory animals via local dealers for the fourth quarter from September 30 to November 16. Dealers will secure the ammunition. Preference ratings on softwood lumber for essential farm construction are handled by the War Board, enabling dealers to replace lumber sold to farmers. Polk County's third quarter quota was 205,000 feet, with about 115,000 feet rationed to date. Nine farm machinery items remain under ceiling prices. The method for calculating maximum prices remains unchanged.
