An off duty nurse and Lincoln city fireman administered CPR to Otto Olson after a heart attack on Nance Street. Their rapid response, with hospital transport and oxygen, followed by CPR Task Force aims, notes Osceola CPR classes and a local instructor.
Nebraska Game and Parks officials report hunters and trappers must possess the $7.50 Habitat Stamp in the field. One stamp covers all hunting and trapping permits when signed and attached, with separate permits not requiring extra stamps if the stamp is already on a permit. Proceeds fund habitat improvements through the Habitat fund and natural resources districts.
The photographer contracted to take student pictures in the Osceola school system will be at the school next Tuesday October 18 all day. Parents of pre school children may have them photographed by bringing them to the Jeffrey Elementary office at 830 a.m. or 1230 p.m. per Superintendent Sipes.
DeVon Carlson son of Mr and Mrs Rupert Carlson is among 33 Nebraska 4-H members awarded trips to the National 4-H Congress in Chicago November 26 to December 2. Carlson, a UNL freshman, earned the trip for field crops with a 4-H record including grand and reserve champion livestock and hog awards and leadership roles in his club.
Park Board and Osceola residents reviewed Bruce L. Gilmore & Associates blueprints for a new 276000 gallon pool, 110 by 82.5 feet, with diving area, wading pool, and six foot fence. Site shifts from tennis courts to accommodate an L shaped pool, bathhouse retained, parking between Boy Scout cabin and pool, project funded up to 194000 dollars with federal and state funds, construction to start next spring for 1978 season.

Senator Douglas Bereuter of Utica will be guest speaker at the Polk County Farm Bureau annual banquet in Shelby at 6 30 p m on Monday October 17. He will discuss bills affecting farmers passed or pending in the Legislature. Tickets available from Farm Bureau office or any director, deadline October 14.

Graduation exercises in York on October 1 honored 21 Osceola and Shelby area trainees who completed an 81 hour 24 week EMT course plus 10 hours of in hospital training in Omaha and Lincoln. Osceola now has 19 qualified technicians. previous technicians Lewis and Roberts repeated the course for in hospital training.
Firefighters were called to Leo nard Coffin home around 4 p.m. Saturday to a shed fire at Oswald Cerny property. Cause unknown. Local EMT volunteers from the original class, including Duane Schmo ker and Jim Lewis, met October 5 to review ambulance equipment and radio use as part of new mandatory emergency medical responder roles.
Mrs. Frances Carlstrom of Polk won the Armchair Quarterback Contest with nine correct game outcomes and a tie-breaker predicting Kansas State 155 yards passing against Nebraska. Ronald McClain of Madison also had nine, while four others had eight. scores listed include Henderson 29 Osceola 12 and Alabama 21 USC 20 among many results.
Osceola’s football team lost 29 to 12 at Henderson as the Huskies piled up 255 rushing yards and four touchdowns by Randy Huebert. Joe Graham scored twice for Osceola on 2 and 68 yard runs, with Day passing for 75 yards. Henderson outgained Osceola 258 to 271 in total yards and forced seven Bulldog penalties. Osceola, now 4-2, hosts Silver Creek for Homecoming Friday.
Osceola High School hosts 1977 Homecoming Friday starting at two, featuring a downtown float parade led by the American Legion color guard and marching band. Royal Court includes JoAnn Schacher Jean Soukup Peggy Watts Eric Henderson Todd Hiemer Randy Reese. Activities include crafts bake sale and sidewalk sales. floats judged with cash prizes at the Osceola Silver Creek game.
Funeral services for Lloyd G. Sweenie 80 were held at United Methodist Church after his stay at Good Samaritan Home. Survivors include sister Beulah Ferris of Osceola. Frank Thelen 83 died October 6 at Annie Jeffrey Memorial Hospital Osceola and Rosary was held October 9 with funeral at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Shelby.
